Vibrations from internal and external sources consists of structural movement that either disturb building occupants directly (vibration of floors or table surfaces) or indirectly (propagating through building structures and radiates as structural-borne noise.

- Threadmills and weight training
Vibration can also be caused by external activities such as piling works and nearby train tracks.
